OB County Slim (Omar Baker), also known as OB, is a soulful artist whose sound is a rich blend of classic and contemporary influences. Rooted deeply in the traditions of Southern soul and R&B, his music reflects the timeless essence of artists who shaped generations.
Born and raised in the South, OB grew up immersed in heartfelt, soul-stirring music. Influenced by legends such as Johnny Taylor, Marvin Sease, B.B. King, Z.Z. Hill, and Teddy Pendergrass, he developed a sound that speaks directly to the heart and soul of listeners.
His journey began performing in local venues, where he honed his craft and built a loyal following. His talent and stage presence led to opportunities to share stages with notable acts including SWV, Christopher Williams, Silk, Eric Benét, and The Emotions.
In the mid-2000s, OB caught the attention of independent labels and eventually signed with 9.17/Motown Records. This experience became a pivotal moment in his career, inspiring him to take creative control of his future. He went on to establish his own imprint alongside Jimmy “Slam” Jones under Clay Water Partners LLC.
Now fully independent, OB County Slim is focused on building a lasting legacy through songwriting, production, and authentic storytelling. With relentless determination, he continues to create timeless music for every occasion—music that resonates, inspires, and connects.
As he carves his own path, OB aims to become a household name among the very legends who influenced him.
